Last year, the NCC introduced fees for those wanting to cross country ski in Gatineau Park…this year snow shoeing takes a hit as well. The NCC will charge $7 to $17 for day passes and $40 to $145 for season passes for those wanting to snow shoe in Gatineau Park.
The NCC says this is a contribution snow shoers will make for the services that they enjoy using, such as campers pay for camping. Gatineau Park’s snow shoe trail is 57 km long with signs, fire pits, shelters and more and the maintenance of the trails, parking lots and more are costly.
Cross country ski passes can be used as snowshoe passes as well AND people can use their library cards to borrow snowshoe passes from public library branches throughout the City and Gatineau.
