April 2016 Newsletter

In like a lamb…out like a lion! I think that that applies to the real estate market too. Signs that the market is picking up:

  • Dinner is happening less regularly.
  • My phones need to be charged more often and I carry spare chargers with me
  • Gas stations see me much more often
  • Little bags of nuts in my car become travelling lunches
  • There is NO food in my house (except…thank goodness…for the Bryson Farms deliveries on Wednesdays)

Yesterday’s announcement that Ottawa is alive again with jobs and business ventures is the icing on the cake….it is going to be a good real estate year…with everyone happy. Prices are fair!

Be sure to check out this months events as there are some great ones. On our Facebook page at Evans Team Facebook Page has Free or Almost Free weekend activities. Be sure and check each Friday!

Have a great April!!

Recipe of the Month: Maple Roasted Parsnips

Carrots and parsnips roasting in a pan, with thyme, shallots, and garlic. We have our vegetables delivered to us weekly from Bryson Farms (amazing vegetables)!! We have had delivery from them for almost 10 years now and continue to love it!! We actually find that it has saved us a lot of money:

  1. There is no wastage in the vegetables as they are so fresh and last so much longer
  2. We eat out less (not a good thing for all of my favourite restaurants…so sorry) as I know that we have so much food in the fridge to eat
  3. And….we are much healthier for it!

By the end of the winter season though I am looking for creative ways to use my parsnips. Here is one of my favourite recipes that I wanted to share with you:

Maple roasted parsnips
  • 5 lg parsnips cut into quarters, lengthwise
  • 5.3 oz (150 g) maple syrup (OR if you are a Maureen….just go out to the backyard & get some!)
  • 5.3 oz (150g )sherry vinegar
  • juice & zest of 1 orange
  • sea salt
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • olive oil
  1. Preheat oven to 375F  (190c).
  2. Toss the parsnips in enough olive oil to lightly coar and place on a baking tray with cinnamon sticks. Rost them in the oven for 20 min
  3. Remove tray from oven and toss the parsnips with the vinegar & maple syrup, top with salt & orange zest & roast for another 15 min
  4. Serve parsnips on a plate with fresly squeezed orange juice over them
ENJOY!!
