Ottawa’s Top Events this Weekend

The weather is certainly getting cooler but it is still supposed to be beautiful tomorrow and Saturday with full sun. Get out and enjoy some of the events Ottawa has to offer before the rain begins on Sunday.

Sound & Light Show on Parliament Hill – This show has been running every night since July 11 and will be wrapping up on September 16 so take advantage of the long weekend to get down to Parliament and see this beautiful sound and light show celebrating the Northern Lights for FREE.

Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival – Taking place from today to Monday, this event spans the entire Labour Day weekend and is not to be missed. $29 per wristband and worth every penny. Spectacular shows both during the day and at night at de le Baie Park. Visit the website for more details.

RBC Canadian Painting Competition – This competition is an initiative developed in collaboration with the Canadian Art Foundation to nurture and support promising new artists in the early stages of their careers. Head to the National Gallery to view the works of 15 of the finalists. Running September 1 to October 22, this is an opportunity to view the works of today’s most talented artists that are at the beginning of their careers. Entry tickets are $7 to $15.

Fall Into Harvest – Taking place at the Cumberland Village Museum on Saturday and Sunday, this event celebrates the harvest season by taking you back in time to learn how to barter, predict the weather for your crops and more. Great fun!

Carefor Race Day – Join Team Carefor to run or walk to support seniors in our community who are living with dementia. Taking place on Saturday, beginning at 7:30 am, the race cost is $25 for registration. There is still time to register and support this important cause as it affects so many in our community.

2017 Ottawa Pinball and Gameroom Show – Taking place on Saturday and Sunday at the Nepean Sportsplex, this event is great for the whole family with all you can play pinball games and arcade games. $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under.

The Latin American Festival – Taking place on Sunday on Wellington Street this festival will feature the wonderful aspects of Latin American culture for all to experience…the food, music, dances…all culminating with a parade. Don’t miss it…it’s totally FREE!

MOSAICANADA 150 – This horticultural experience has been running since June and is one of the best exhibits celebrating our 150th birthday! To view the amazing pieces of horticultural art is totally FREE! Take advantage of the weather on Saturday to bring the whole family to see this amazing feat.
