Spring has finally….FINALLY arrived. Although it is still a bit chilly out there, the snow has melted and the sun is warm. Warmer days, hot days are truly just around the corner. Our canine friends will be happy with this news as well. It means that the days of a quick walk around the block in -40 degree weather are gone and the long hikes of spring and summer are here.
Much to many residents’ surprise Ottawa has many dog parks throughout the city that allow our canine counterparts to enjoy one another’s company off-leash and in a relaxed setting. Ottawa’s premier dog park is located in the west of Ottawa near Qualicum, Bruce Pit Dog Park. Bruce Pit offers several acres of parkland as well as numerous trails for you and your dog(s) to enjoy along with other people and pups! They have a fantastic website too with online forums about training, nutrition, park activities and more. You can even send in your pup’s photo to put him/her on the “Dogs of Bruce Pit” photo page.
A dog park is truly ideal when you can walk from your front door to the park with your dog without having to put either of you in a vehicle. We have a listing at 23 Sioux Crescent in Qualicum that allows you to do just that, walk the dog on-lease to the park about 10 minutes away and then let him off-leash to enjoy the trails and play with the other dogs. 23 Sioux Crescent also offers spacious principal rooms, crown moulding and hardwood throughout, a finished basement with lots of versatility, a main floor family room plus a stunning backyard with an in-ground pool that backs onto Okanagan Park….privacy galore!
