Ottawa is a city known for its greenspace! Our capital region has the NCC, the Gatineau Parklands, paths, trails and more. Ottawa’s many parks provide great greenspace for everyone throughout the city and are so easily accessible.
This June, help Ecology Ottawa celebrate Ottawa’s parks by taking place in Ottawa’s Park Month. With the generous support of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, Ecology Ottawa will be helping dozens of Ottawa residents plan fun community events in their local greenspaces. With over 20 events already planned, there’s a chance that a Park Month celebration is already happening close to you!
Check out their website to see the list of events: https://ecologyottawa.ca/campaigns/living-city/parks-and-green-spaces/park-month/
Since Park Month is a celebration of parks, any activity held within a park will be accepted. Examples of activities could be (but are not limited too):
- Tree planting
- Park remediation
- Story time under the trees
- Outdoor cinema/movie night
- Community festival
- Artistic demonstrations
- Jane’s walk
- Tree tour
- Community BBQ
- Sporting events
